An new Linux version of the Mobile Phone Manager is now available. XMPM is a new mobile phone manager for Siemens mobile phones, now for the Linux operating system.
With XMPM on your PC, you will be able to:
- Exchange pictures, ringtones and advanced multimedia content through direct access to the mobile’s file system.
- Use your PC to quickly create, send and receive SMS messages.
- Manage contacts in your address book with the Synchronization feature.
- Use your mobile to provide easy GPRS Internet access for your PC.
- Connect using Bluetooth, USB or a serial cable
XMPM is currently available for Linux distributions Suse 9.2 and 9.3.
Download and Installation Instructions
1.) Getting LinuX Mobile Phone Manager Software
1.1 – First, download XMPM from the Internet. XMPM is distributed on a single self-extracting file (for download links see below).
1.2 – Check if it was successfully downloaded by verifying the file size.
1.2 – During the download process, XMPM’s linux file attributes are reset for security reasons. In order to restore them, you must perform a “chmod” command as follows:
chmod +x XMPM_Installer_<Distribution>_<Version>
2.) Launching XMPM Installer
2.1 – You can choose to either click on this file using your file browser, or execute it on your home directory using the following command:
./XMPM_Installer_<Distribution>_<Version>
2.2 – The file will be self-extracted and a directory called XMPM_<Distribution>_<Version> is created on your home directory.
2.3 – XMPM graphical installer will be then launched and you are asked to provide your root password.
